(Seth Baugh, Nov. 7, 2026) Edgewood won the [Open Class C title](https://issma.net/statembresults.php) on Saturday (Nov. 7) at the 53rd Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) State Finals for High School Marching Bands. The competition took place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. It was the band’s fifth consecutive Class C state championship and sixth overall. Edgewood won its first title in 2018, then won every year from 2022 through 2026. A month ago, 96 Open Class bands started competition at four regional sites. Eighty advanced to semi-state on Oct. 24\. The top 10 in each of the four enrollment classes qualified for the finals, leaving 40 bands to compete at Lucas Oil Stadium. Edgewood has qualified for the state finals every year since 2007\. No state finals were held in 2020. Edgewood competed at regionals at Center Grove High School in Greenwood. The band advanced through semi-state at Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis. ISSMA places bands in classes based on the previous year’s enrollment in grades 9 through 12\. Class C covers schools with 550 to 924 students. Edgewood’s enrollment figure is 769\. Edgewood’s band this year has 88 members, including 16 seventh- and eighth-graders who march alongside the high school students. Edgewood’s show was called The Ties That Bind and featured five musical selections: “Everything in Its Right Place” by Radiohead; “Children’s Hour of Dream” by Charles Mingus; “Mad World” by Tears for Fears; “Rhythm of the Heat” by Peter Gabriel; and “As the World Caves In” by Matthew Maltese. Seth Baugh’s photos below capture scenes from Saturday’s championship performance and celebration. The drum majors are the student conductors who lead the band on the field. ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/20/6f/206f9007-c0a7-47d4-b87b-686c21961f22/content/images/2026/11/2026-11-07-Seth-Baugh-Edgewood-Band-DSC02713.jpg) Edgewood Marching Mustangs members prepare to enter Lucas Oil Stadium for the 2026 ISSMA State Finals.
