### Civic Solver

We’re skipping the puzzle for this week and probably a few more weeks. The news operation is stretching me ever thinner. Puzzles seemed like a good place to conserve time and effort.

### Weather Talk

Based on the National Weather Service forecast in [text](https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=39.1653&lon=-86.5264&ref=bsquarebulletin.com) and [charts](https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?w0=t&w1=td&w2=wc&w3=sfcwind&w3u=1&w4=sky&w5=pop&w6=rh&w7=rain&w8=thunder&w13u=0&w14u=1&w15u=1&AheadHour=48&FcstType=graphical&textField1=39.1648&textField2=-86.5174&site=all&unit=0&dd=&bw=&BackDay.x=47&BackDay.y=12&ref=bsquarebulletin.com) here’s some advice.

**Thursday:** Take rain gear, because it will rain, possibly all day long, so you will need it. The high will be around 80F°.

**Friday:** You won’t need rain gear until maybe around 5 p.m. and until then it will be partly sunny with a high around 81F°.

**Sign up for weather alerts:** [Monroe County emergency alert system](https://member.everbridge.net/1772417038942730/login?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR2uaB5CUic7chciSA3zDnmEUsIRflEEWlELCaK1ouZgLADRnRCwugmnaAg%5Faem%5FAe5PkplH7bE%5F9j2C%5FACtHn6b%5F2754gizB4sxhDXVFPSLSBNROE4f4on5K4QE3b4HB7LYxsLKy0utImzhOmrxXV95)

### Ways to get B Square reports

Besides this newsletter, which is sent to email inboxes and is [archived on the website](https://bsquarebulletin.com/tag/almost-daily-bulletin/), you could also decide to have every individual news report sent directly to your inbox at the same time it is published to the website. How do you make that happen? When you’re [logged in to your account](https://bsquarebulletin.com/tag/almost-daily-bulletin/#/portal/account), just add My Inbox Now to the options under Manage Emails.

Or if you mainly prefer to rely on social media to sprinkle links into your stream, try [@BSquareBulletin](https://www.facebook.com/BSquareBulletin) for Facebook. Or, new this weekend, the B Square now has a Bluesky account: [@bsquarebulletin.bsky.social](https://bsky.app/profile/bsquarebulletin.bsky.social)

Monroe County’s income tax rate will rise from 2.14% to 2.205% on Jan. 1 after the county council voted unanimously to restore the juvenile-services rate to 0.095%. The increase amounts to $32.50 a year more for a taxpayer with $50,000 of taxable income.

### Up for adoption?

For the last few hours, the city of Bloomington’s [animal shelter website](https://bloomington.in.gov/animal-shelter/animals?ref=bsquarebulletin.com) has been down, so there’s no featured animal up for adoption today. Maybe the website will be back up by the time you are reading this!

A [9/11 memorial installation](https://www.cfcproperties.com/commemorative-art-installation-for-25th-anniversary-of-9-11/) stands at Fountain Square in downtown Bloomington, marking 25 years since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. The work, by Bloomington artist Jerry Collins, uses colored stripes to encode the names of nearly 3,000 people killed in the attacks. (Dave Askins, Sept. 9, 2026)
