A pin oak (Quercus palustris) appears to have succumbed to stress from thunderstorm wind gusts earlier in the day, splitting down its trunk and sending branches crashing down on parked cars, which sustained damage. There are no known injuries at this time.

The sign in the door at Wendy’s says that the location will be closed for remodeling starting Aug. 11 for at least two weeks. That puts reopening on Aug. 25 or later.
