Sgambelluri is director of development at the Indiana University College of Arts & Sciences, a position she’s held since 2003. From 1992 to 2003 she was associate director at the IU Career Development Center.

In 2014 she was appointed by the council to the Bloomington Redevelopment Commission, for a term expiring at the end of 2019. She is a member of the city’s citizens advisory committee, which provides guidance in distributing federal Community Development Block Grant funding.

Sgambelluri also is a trustee for the Monroe County History Center and president of the board for the FUMCB Foundation Inc., serving the First United Methodist Church of Bloomington.

Originally from Merrillville, Indiana, Sgambelluri has lived in Bloomington since 1994. She holds an undergraduate degree from Purdue University in organizational development, and a master’s degree in higher education administration from IU.

For the primary election, Jenny Olmes-Stevens served as Sgambelluri’s campaign chair and treasurer. Geoff McKim, a Monroe County councilmember, is treasurer for the general election and Sgambelluri is serving as her own campaign chair.
