28-year-old man shot, killed on Bloomington’s north side, police trying to ID suspect



In a news release issued early Thursday afternoon, Bloomington police have reported the shooting death of a 28-year-old man who lived in the Kinser Flats apartment building on the city’s north side.
The shooting appears to have taken place early Wednesday morning.
Bloomington police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact detective Jon Muscato at (812) 349-3325.
According to the news release, police responded to Kinser Flats early Wednesday around 4:50 a.m. based on a 911 report of a man inside an apartment who appeared to be dead.
Police found the victim, who had an apparent gunshot wound, and tried to resuscitate him. Those efforts continued when an ambulance crew arrived. According to the news release, the man was then determined to be deceased.
Police have conducted interviews, reviewed surveillance camera footage, and searched several apartments, which yielded useful evidence, according to the news release.
Based on the investigation so far, police have concluded that a male suspect and the victim got into an argument in the bedroom of the victim’s apartment.
According to Thursday’s news release, the suspect produced a handgun and shot once, hitting the victim in the head. The suspect left the apartment with the gun, and later fled from the building.
Police investigators are trying to identify the suspect. Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact detective Jon Muscato at (812) 349-3325.
Owned by Centerstone PSH, Kinser Flats is a long-term supportive housing facility with 50 apartments. The facility opened last year, after breaking ground in late 2019.
