Jail plan update: Monroe County scraps letter to lawmakers, shifts focus to reducing project budget
At a joint meeting of Monroe County councilors and commissioners on Friday, the elected officials decided not to send a letter to state legislators about the county’s planned new jail. They agreed to focus their efforts on how to move the project forward within the constraints of a reduced budget.
Man in Monroe County jail faces new charge in June fentanyl death
Based on an autopsy report from the Monroe County coroner on Wednesday, about a drug overdose death on June 18, Bloomington police detectives took steps to add a charge to a prisoner already in the Monroe County jail—dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death. It’s a level 1 felony.
Southern Monroe County: Juvenile driver seriously injured in Popcorn Road rollover crash
On Thursday night (Aug.7) a 2024 Hyundai travelling on Popcorn Road west of Harrodsburg in southern Monroe County left the roadway, and rolled several times, throwing the juvenile driver out of the car. That’s according to a news release from the Monroe County’s sheriff’s office on Friday.
