Around 10:30 p.m. Monday (April 6), Bloomington police officers arrested a 37-year-old Bloomington woman after an hours-long standoff at a home in the 2000 block of South Rockport Road, according to a news release issued on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the news release, Heather Ingle allegedly chased a 53-year-old man from the house while armed with two kitchen knives, then barricaded herself inside and refused to cooperate with officers. Crisis negotiators attempted to contact her, but she would not respond.

After officers obtained a search warrant, a police drone was sent into the residence; Ingle struck it and threw it against a wall. Officers with the department’s critical incident team then took her into custody.

According to the news release, the man who was chased out of the house by the woman told officers that about 10 days earlier Ingle had begun acting strangely. She allegedly hit and kicked him while he was washing dishes, then grabbed two kitchen knives and charged at him, prompting him to leave the home and stay with a friend. When he returned on April 6 and confronted her about missing belongings, he said she again armed herself with two kitchen knives and rushed toward him, causing him to flee and call 911. That was around 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The standoff lasted around six hours.

Ingle was booked into the Monroe County jail on preliminary charges of intimidation (Level 5 felony), domestic battery, and criminal mischief.
