Bloomington police investigate Thursday night shooting, one woman hospitalized



Bloomington police are investigating a Thursday night (April 13, 2023) shooting towards the northwest side of town, in the general vicinity of Maple Street, between 15th and 17th streets.
According to the news release from the Bloomington police department (BPD), around 10:20 p.m. on Thursday night, a 45-year-old woman was shot more than once by a masked assailant, as she was backing out of a driveway on the 1200 block of North Maple Street.
The attacker got out of a car that had stopped behind the victim’s vehicle, shot her more than once, then sped off in an unknown direction, according to the news release.
Police interviewed the victim after she was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, according to the news release.
Police are asking anyone with information or possible surveillance video from the area of the shooting, to call detective Jeff Rodgers at (812) 339-4477.
According to the BPD news release, it was around 10:20 p.m. when BPD officers responded to several 911 calls, about more than one gunshot in the 1200 block area of North Maple Street.
As officers were on their way to the Maple Street location, a 911 call came in about a woman who’d been shot several times, who came into a business on the 700 block of West 17th Street.
Officers found several shell casings in the 1200 block of North Maple Street, where the woman described being shot.
