Corporate Sponsor Guidelines

The B Square Bulletin values the support of organizations and individuals who invest in civic journalism. As a public-interest news organization, we recognize our sponsors in a manner that is consistent with our editorial integrity, community mission, and IRS guidelines for qualified sponsorships.

Sponsor recognition serves to acknowledge the civic leadership and community investment of those who support our work. Sponsor recognition is not an exchange for advertising and does not imply editorial influence or promotional endorsement.

Sponsors may be publicly recognized in the following ways:

  • Website: Listing on our Sponsor Acknowledgement page with sponsor names and/or logos (without taglines or promotional language). High-tier sponsors may appear on our front page or in our footer.
  • Email newsletter: Inclusion in periodic thank-you sections with sponsor name, logo, and up to 200 characters of text (no calls to action or promotional copy).
  • Printed materials: If and when printed materials are produced (e.g., special reports, inserts), sponsor names and tier level may be acknowledged in a designated support section.
  • Community events and briefings: Verbal acknowledgment during sponsored events or civic forums; listing on event-related collateral or presentation materials.

Sponsor acknowledgements include only sponsor names, logos, limited text, and links.

Guidelines for language

Per U.S. Internal Revenue Service policy, sponsor acknowledgements will not include action-oriented language, promotional statements, prices, or inducements to buy products or services.

We accept up to 200 characters of text (including spaces.) Here are some examples of text that are acceptable:

  • Bloomington Widget Co. proudly supports the B Square Bulletin’s mission to keep Bloomington informed through independent, watchdog journalism that strengthens our civic life.
  • Bloomington Widget Co., dedicated to delivering effective widgets for Bloomington and Monroe County, is proud to support the B Square Bulletin’s commitment to civic transparency.
The B Square Bulletin retains full control over the placement and tone of all sponsor acknowledgments.

Guidelines for logos

Logos may appear on web pages or in newsletters. For best results, submit two logos: a rectangular form (3:2) and a square form (1:1), formatted as an rgb-color JPG or PNG with a white background.

  • The ideal size for the rectangular form is 300 x 200 pixels. (width x height)
  • The ideal size for the square form is 300 x 300 pixels. (width x height)
The B Square Bulletin reserves the right to adjust your submitted files. Typical adjustments include sizing, adding a white background, and adjusting the color to rgb.

We aim to apply these guidelines consistently and transparently across all sponsors and levels of support. If any questions arise, we welcome discussion to ensure both compliance and clarity. Direct questions to sponsorship@bsquarebulletin.com.

Thank you!

Sponsorship of The B Square Bulletin is a statement of shared values. We are grateful to all who support our mission to deliver independent, community-focused journalism that strengthens civic life.
