County commissioner candidate: Dominic Thompson

Dominic Thompson is running for a four-year term as a county commissioner for Monroe County. Thompson faces Lee Jones in the May 3, 2022 Democratic Party primary.
The winner of that race will face Republican Perry Robinson in the November 8, 2022 general election. Robinson is unopposed for county commissioner in the Republican Party primary.

Thompson has served as chair of Bloomington’s board of housing quality appeals for the last three years. He is a recent appointee to Monroe County’s affordable housing commission. He would be the first LGBTQ+ county commissioner in the state of Indiana.
Thompson has an undergraduate degree in law and public policy from Indiana University.
Thompson ran for one of the three large county council seats in 2020, placing fourth in a field of five.
Thompson works for Trilogy Health Services.
The priorities that Thompson lists out on his campaign website include: working with developers to create affordable housing in the unincorporated part of the county; investing in economic development focused on sustainability, and strengthening the relationship between the city of Bloomington and Monroe County government.
