A half-dozen protesters with the Bloomington Democratic Socialists of America Community Defense Committee are leading the “Panopticon Parade,” from People's Park along the route of some Flock cameras they believe are still live. That’s after an announcement from the Kerry Thomson administration earlier this year that the city’s contract with Flock would not be renewed. From Bloomington police chief on Monday: “There are 4 video cameras on Kirkwood that are still live. These are not LPR [license plate reader] cameras. We are in the process of replacing them but have not completed that process. This was part of the announcement back in the spring when the Mayor and I announced the cancellation of the Flock contracts. This contract was also not renewed.” (Dave Askins, Aug. 23, 2026)
