The parking meters have been bagged with no-parking signs from Saturday (Dec. 6) at 5 p.m. to Sunday (Dec. 7) at 5 a.m. Why? It was a precaution in connection with the Big 10 Championship football game. From an email by public works director Adam Wason, forwarded to a business owner list: “The final horn of the victory will likely come sometime after 11 p.m. and possibly closer to midnight. Once that occurs, we expect our exuberant fanbase may choose to go out onto Kirkwood to celebrate. With no cars parked from Indiana to Grant, we would eliminate the possibility of anyone damaging vehicles in any of the ways that could happen in such a celebration.” (Dave Askins, Dec. 7, 2025)
