Little 500 fall series: Street sprints through IU campus

On Sunday, as part of the Little 500 fall series, riders sprinted 200 meters down 7th Street from the Indiana Memorial Union toward Showalter Fountain. Photographer Juliette Kniola captured the action on campus.

Two-hundred-meter straight-line sprints are part of a fall series of events connected to the Little 500 race, which is held in the spring at the Bill Armstrong Stadium track.

Once upon a time, the street sprints were held on Kirkwood Avenue. But in the last few years, the course has started in front of the Indiana Memorial Union on 7th Street and headed farther into the university campus, east towards the Showalter Fountain. The IU Student Foundation, which hosts the races, makes the results for the whole series available online. The cyclocross races were held on Saturday (Nov. 1).
