The winner of that race will face Republican Nathan Williamson in the Nov. 8, 2022 general election. Williams is unopposed for sheriff in the Republican Party primary.

Stalcup is currently Monroe County’s coroner, a position to which she was first elected in 2016 and again in 2020. For the last three years she has worked as the medical records coordinator for Centerstone, Inc.

Before that she worked as a 911 dispatcher for the city of Bloomington and as deputy coroner for Monroe County.

Stalcup is married to Michael Stalcup, who is listed as Monroe County’s deputy coroner in Stalcup’s campaign filings.

In her response to a League of Women Voters question Stalcup described her top three priorities as: the mental health and substance use crisis; community policing; and diversity and inclusion for deputies and corrections officers.
