Monroe County sheriff: Driver of truck that rear-ended tractor arrested, charged with OWI

In a news release issued on Thursday (July 10) morning, the Monroe County sheriff’s office announced earlier the same morning, the driver of a pickup truck that rear-ended a farm tractor west of Bloomington had been arrested for driving while intoxicated that caused serious injury.

In a news release issued on Thursday (July 10) morning, the Monroe County sheriff’s office announced that earlier the same morning, the driver of a pickup truck that rear-ended a farm tractor west of Bloomington has been arrested for driving while intoxicated that caused serious injury.

The crash took place around 5:40 a.m. in the vicinity of SR 45 and South Duncan Road, according to the news release. Driving the Massey Ferguson tractor was a Bloomington man, Jesse Prince (62), who was at first pinned and not able to move. He was taken by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, according to the news release.

Driving the 2004 Black Dodge Ram truck was another Bloomington man, Jared Hash (31), who was treated for his injuries at the scene by Monroe County Fire Protection District staff, according to the news release. Hash was then taken by sheriff’s deputies to the hospital for more investigation.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Hash for operating while intoxicated resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the news release.

According to the news release, because of the severity of the crash and injuries involved, the Monroe County sheriff’s office crash reconstructionist was contacted.
