Weather Talk
Based on the National Weather Service forecast in text and charts here’s some advice.
Thursday: Put on a corduroy jacket with elbow patches, a cardigan sweater, or a big sloppy sweatshirt to start the day, because we’ll be starting from an overnight low of 42F°. You’ll need something to keep the chill off. The high will reach just 67F° so probably can leave on your extra layer the whole day without overheating. Skies will be sunny—it’s not going to rain.
Friday: Pick a different light outer wrap from Thursday for fashion reasons, but you’ll need something to deal with the 42F° temps to start the day, just like Thursday. It’s the same weather as Thursday—it’s not going to rain. The high will stay just under 70F° for the second day in a row. By the time high school football games start, it will be 60°F and falling, so wear something like a sweatshirt, or maybe take a blanket to snuggle under.
Practice your weather talk. Try this gambit: “Fall is finally here.” If someone opens with that, and you have to respond, just say: “Yep.” Or use the variant: “Yup.” If you are feeling wordy, you can try: “Yeah, it is.”

The second of two tenants is in the process of moving. That’s the latest word from the legal department of Monroe County.
Bloom Magazine. The latest edition of Bloom Magazine has dropped. Pick up a copy at places all over town. From my column this time around: “Nobody architected any joy.”

On the 10 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 9) agenda for the Monroe County commissioners is a $450,000 contract with Eagleview for three years worth of the kind of flyover imagery (2026, 2028, and 2030) that is included in the county’s online property lookup system.
