The sidewalk on the north side of 3rd Street running from Walnut Street up to the B-Line Trail is closed due to the failure of a railing. On Tuesday, public works director Adam Wason told the board of public works: “We are doing everything we can possibly do to try to get that sidewalk open.”

On Thursday night (July 3), the Monroe County Fair featured a rodeo produced by Fiddler Cattle Company. Photographer Juliette Kniola was there to capture these images of mutton busting, bull riding and barrel racing.

After a ruling against Monroe County sheriff Ruben Marté, Indiana attorney general (AG) Todd Rokita’s lawsuit against the sheriff is still pending. Special judge Lucas Rudisill denied Marté’s motion to dismiss the AG’s lawsuit over the sheriff’s local policy on enforcement of immigration laws.

Now set for closer study is the Rogers Street corridor, stretching 4.5-miles from Bloomington’s southern boundary to the SR 45/46 bypass. Approved on Tuesday night by Bloomington’s board of public works was a consulting contract with Toole Design Group worth $209,221.

At a meeting on Monday, Flintlock LAB was authorized by Bloomington's RDC to start a new process as an alternative to the city’s redevelopment efforts up to now for the former IU Health hospital site. The two responses to the city's public offering of the land were formally rejected by the RDC.

This past week, the city of Bloomington submitted its application for a portion of nearly $1 billion in funding that is available in 2025 through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant program. The deadline for applications was June 26.
