IU football beat Miami 27–21 Monday night. Afterward, Kirkwood Avenue from Grant to Indiana filled shoulder-to-shoulder with celebrating fans. Two couches were set on fire, and Nick’s English Hut’s guttering was damaged as people climbed to the roof. By 1:15 a.m., the crowd began to thin.

After the game ended, Kirkwood Avenue—from about Grant Street to Indiana Avenue—was packed shoulder-to-shoulder with fans, delirious over IU’s victory.
Some displays of affection for the team were a little dubious, as two couches were set ablaze, and the guttering system for Nick’s English Hut was wrecked when people used it as a handhold to climb up to the roof. Chants of “Hoo Hoo Hoosiers!” and “Purdue sucks!” echoed off the buildings. Fans were delighted to show off their love for the team for the TV camera crews who were on the scene.
By around 1:15 a.m. the crowd had, on its own, started to thin out, and Bloomington police officers started asking people to move to the sidewalks.
