On Sunday afternoon, around 150 people gathered at the southeast corner of the corner of the courthouse square in downtown Bloomington to protest the killing of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen, by ICE agents in Minneapolis last Wednesday (Jan. 7).

According to Associated Press reports, Good was driving a car, had stopped, and had a verbal interaction with ICE agents. Good started to pull her Honda forward, with wheels turned to the right as the officer stood in front, filming her with his cell phone. The officer unholstered his gun and within seconds shot her through the windshield, according to AP. The shooting was described by federal officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, as an act of self-defense.

Among the chants from protesters in Bloomington on Sunday was “Kristi Noem has got to go!”

Other chants included: “Donald Trump has got to go!” “Show me what democracy looks like—this is what democracy looks like!” “The people, united, will never be defeated!” “No justice, no peace!” “Keep families together!” “ICE out for good!” and “Melt ICE!”

The temperature at the time of the rally was 27F° with a windchill of 19F° under cloudy skies with a dusting of snow from overnight.
