Southern Monroe County: Juvenile driver seriously injured in Popcorn Road rollover crash
On Thursday night (Aug.7) a 2024 Hyundai travelling on Popcorn Road west of Harrodsburg in southern Monroe County left the roadway, and rolled several times, throwing the juvenile driver out of the car. That’s according to a news release from the Monroe County’s sheriff’s office on Friday.

The crash victim was flown to Indianapolis by IU Health Lifeline for serious injuries, according to the news release.
The crash reconstruction team from the Monroe County sheriff’s office had the roadway shut down for over two hours for crash reconstruction, and the crash is still under investigation, according to the news release.
According to the city of Bloomington’s crash dashboard, from 2019 to 2024 the stretch of Popcorn Road west of Harrodsburg has seen at least seven crashes, three which caused injury, and one of those a serious injury. The “manner” of the crash in five out of the seven crashes was “ran off road.”
