Sunday Funnies: Hawk v. Fish

The origin story for the image might make the cartoon a little funnier, if you're a reader who does not instantly recognize the fish.
On top of the historic Monroe County courthouse there is a weathervane featuring a metal fish crafted by blacksmith Austin Seward, which is called Hoagy as the result of a naming contest in 2018. Sometimes, one of the red-tailed hawks that lives in downtown Bloomington will land on the fish. The art for the cartoon was made by applying a software filter to a photograph of that scene.
Are you tired of Hawk v. Fish? Imagine what it would be like to see a fresh cartoon every Sunday, drawn by a local Bloomington artist. Years ago, when I was running an online publication similar to The B Square, called The Ann Arbor Chronicle, we published a regular watercolor cartoon panel by Ann Arbor resident Alvey Jones, which was called Bezonki. I would like very much to stretch the boundaries of what counts as a cartoon or a comic. If you are a Bloomington area artist, who could deliver a weekly or monthly cartoon, not necessarily like Bezonki, please reach out.
