According to the second news release, the suspect was found in a wooded area on the property about an hour after sheriff’s deputies and firefighters with the Monroe County Fire Protection District arrived on the scene. The suspect was described as having burn injuries. The call came in the wee hours of Sunday morning, around 2:40 a.m.
The second news release says that Bloomington’s police department and the Indiana State Police helped to locate the suspect. The investigation is still underway, according to the second news release.
The second news release says that when first responders arrived on the scene, they saw a vehicle that had crashed into the attached garage, which was “actively on fire.”
The two occupants of the residence who died, succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire, according to the second news release. The Monroe County coroner’s office will have responsibility to release the identities of those who died.
