Indiana University’s football team flew home Saturday after its 56–22 Peach Bowl win, but the arrival included a brief ground incident. A Monroe County airport official said the team’s jet left the pavement while taxiing to park and got stuck in turf. No injuries or damage were reported.

Bloomington residents rallied Sunday (Jan. 4) on the Monroe County courthouse lawn to protest a U.S. military strike that removed Venezuela’s president. Speakers condemned U.S. interventionism, linked it to past actions in Latin America, and marched down Kirkwood chanting “Yankee, go home!”

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies pursued a stolen SUV across the county airport tarmac on Christmas Day before losing sight of the suspect in Greene County. The suspect may be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.

Bloomington police say a woman who phoned in a bomb threat Wednesday was identified and arrested within an hour. Officers traced the call to a woman who was booked on a level 6 felony intimidation charge after allegedly threatening to attack the county’s emergency dispatch center.

Warming centers in fire stations and library branches will open across Monroe County starting Saturday, as forecasts call for lows of zero or colder from Saturday night into Monday morning. The centers do not offer overnight shelter. Snow is expected to start Thursday evening.
