Bloomington police: Woman dies in Monroe County jail sallyport after arrest in Seminary Park
The Bloomington police department has confirmed the death of a 64-year-old woman suspect who had been arrested on a warrant in Seminary Park late Friday morning, while she was waiting in the sallyport for transfer into the Monroe County jail.

The department issued its news release around 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
The woman died after first complaining that she was overheated, and her condition got worse quickly after that, according to the news release. A call was made for an ambulance. While waiting for the ambulance, the woman stopped responding, and officers who were present started giving CPR and administered Narcan, which is medication used to rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
Attempts to revive the woman were unsuccessful and she died while still in the jail sallyport, according to the release.
The Monroe County coroner’s office has been contacted, according to the release, and will determine the cause and manner of death.

The Bloomington police department (BPD) said in a statement released Monday afternoon that on the same day investigators had attended the autopsy of the woman who died in the sallyport of the Monroe County Jail last Friday. According to the statement, the pathologist told investigators that the cause of death appeared to be natural causes. However, the final autopsy report will not be released until toxicology results are received. After that, the Monroe County coroner’s office will then make an official determination of cause and manner of death. Responding to several media requests for the information BPD stated that there were three valid arrest warrants at the time of her arrest for the following charges—two for criminal Trespass (class A misdemeanor) and one for public nudity (class A misdemeanor).]
According to the release, the officers who were in the sallyport with the woman were wearing body cameras. According to the release, the investigation remains open and there’s no more information available at this time.
