Bloomington plan commission mulls payment-in-lieu affordable housing incentives

Proposed changes to the affordable housing incentives in Bloomington's UDO are currently under discussion. A possible change would allow more lot coverage for owner-occupied units. The draft would also introduce a minimum project size, of 50 units, for use of the payment-in-lieu option.

The Bloomington police department has issued a news release saying a suspect in the Sept. 26 murder of a 29-year-old Bloomington man has been arrested. The shooting took place near the intersection of West Howe Street and South Morton Street.

Two public meetings are now scheduled on the future of the College-Walnut corridor: Tuesday, Oct. 28, and Thursday, Oct. 30. Both October meetings will be held as open houses in the Bloomington city council chambers, starting at 5:30 p.m. They will essentially be “the same meeting twice.”
