Bloomington police arrested two men on Monday in connection with shots fired June 3 inside an apartment on West Hays Court. No injuries were reported, but officers found bullet holes in the victim’s apartment and neighboring units.

Bloomington police have made two arrests in connection with shots fired in a southwest city neighborhood last Wednesday (June 3), according to a news release on Monday afternoon.
According to the caller who reported the incident on the morning of June 3, two men arrived at their apartment. One of them came in without being invited, then fired several rounds from a handgun before leaving. Responding officers found several bullet holes in the walls of the apartment.
Officers also found bullet holes in the wall of neighboring apartments in the 500 block of West Hays Court, which is south of the intersection of Rogers Street and Rockport Road. There were no injuries reported.
Surveillance footage backed up the victim's statements, according to the news release.
Police determine the identities of the two men as Cody L. Riley (26, Bloomington) and Shawn M. Wilcox (26). Wilcox is described in the news release as “transient,” which is defined in a general BPD order as someone “who lacks stable housing or employment and stays in one place for brief periods of time” and “someone who moves from place to place, just passing through the area, and is not staying for a long time.”
On Monday morning (June 8), police found Wilcox and Riley in an apartment in the 2400 block of South Winslow Court, which is northeast of the intersection of Winslow Road and Henderson Street. Both were arrested and taken to police headquarters for questioning, then booked into the Monroe County jail on the charges of burglary (level 2 felony), criminal recklessness (level 5 felony), and intimidation with a deadly weapon (level 5 felony).
